It would be very helpful if anyone intending to walk across the upland areas of the estate between the 1st of July and the 15th of February could contact the Head Keeper on 01339 755 403 to notify him of their intended route.

Cycling
Cycling is another great way to explore the local area and bike hire is available in Ballater at both the Bike Station and Cycle Highlands in Ballater.

Golf
On the other side of the river Dee to Glenmuick is the beautiful 18 hole Ballater Golf Course.

Tennis
There are several tennis courts for hire next to the Ballater Golf Club.

Horse Riding
Horse riding and private tuition is available at the neighbouring Glen Tanar Equestrian Centre.

Shopping
Ballater has a large range of shops for all your everyday and country sport needs as well as a spot of retail therapy.

Skiing
Just over half an hour’s drive from Glenmuick is Glenshee - Scotland’s premier snow sports resort. Glenshee has 21 lifts and 36 runs offering an exciting and varied skiing experience. With winter snowfall having been higher and more consistent in recent years, why go to mainland Europe when it’s all here?
